This project entails obtaining a large quantity of apple tree nursery stock for establishment of a new research orchard at the Appalachian Fruit Research Station in Kearneysville WV. Project goals are to obtain nursery stock to establish said orchard with trees meeting technical requirements integral to the orchard design and research being conducted. Foremost, the objective is (i) delivery of the required quantity of nursery stock conformant to technical specifications within the prescribed delivery window.
A general description of the requirement reads: delivery of a total of 12,150 apple trees, conformant to technical specifications below and delivered within one of the specified periods. There is no prior acquisition history for this requirement. Nor a continuing need pertinent to this requirement for subsequent years.
This procurement request presents procedural challenges to standard Nursery practice; compliance with the USDA procurement process will require vendor flexibility.
